The Founder's Award

The Drying Company and Owners, Steve Tetreault and Tyler Tetreault are honored to be presented with The Founder’s Award by Christopher Johnson, Director of Economic Development for James City County.

The Founder’s Award has been presented for 28 years, previously called The Captain John Smith Business of The Year Award. The Founder's Award recognizes that contributions or achievements worthy of recognition do not have to be limited to a single business each year. This award is “presented to a company, organization, group, or individual that has made a significant contribution to the County and its citizenry in terms of capital investment, employment, philanthropy, volunteerism, reached a significant milestone or meritorious achievement, or a combination thereof.”

The award recipient is determined based on a vote by members of the Board of Supervisors and Economic Development Authority from a pool of candidates selected by the Office of Economic Development Staff. On this occasion, The Drying Company was among two honorees, when The Board of Supervisors and Economic Development Authority found themselves deadlocked between two candidates, The Drying Company and Greystone of VA.

“We are deeply honored to be recognized for our impact on the local community. We have an incredible team that really focuses on helping people in their homes and through the different charity drives we hold each year, it is easy to miss the bigger impact it has on the community. It’s great to be able to show everyone on Team TDC what all their hard work and commitment to our mission and values has achieved.” Says owner, Steve Tetreault about receiving The Founder’s Award.
