This home had no gutters in several areas and was dumping water off of the roof into the garden beds below and against the home's foundation. The homeowner opted for Gutter Shutter, a complete gutter system with leaf protection. It is a Seamless Gutter System with a hood. The hood guards the gutters from leaves and debris, preventing clogging.
Moisture was seeping through the porous foundation walls of this basement in Colonial Beach. We installed a durable 20-mil CleanSpace vapor barrier over these basement walls, which will help to collect any moisture seeping through the walls and direct it to the Water Guard XL drainage system. The CleanSpace vapor barrier acts as a barrier between the usable basement space and the outside influences.
This basement in Colonial Beach was having issues with infiltrating water. We created a hole to fit our SuperSump Plus system in connection with the WaterGuard drainage system. This efficient sump pump basin contains a cast iron 1/3 horsepower Zoller pump, a WaterWatch alarm system, a CleanPump sump pump stand, and an airtight lid. Any water directed to this sump system is then drained out of the home via hose line and LawnScape to a predetermined area on the property away from the foundation.
This homeowner had been experiencing rooms that were too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer, especially their bedroom. The space just wasn't comfortable. After completing an inspection of the home, we found that the homeowner was losing energy and heat through the attic. As part of the solution, the homeowner chose to insulate the main trunk line with spray foam insulation to help reduce the impact the extreme temperatures of the attic has on the ductwork and the conditioned air in it. They also removed all of the old insulation, air sealed and insulated with new, R-60 cellulose insulation.
With concerns about the moisture damage in their crawl space, this Beaverdam, VA client oped to encapsulate their crawl space to help protect it from future damage.
In this phase of the project, we've treated the microbial growth on the floor joists and a heavy-duty CleanSpace Vapor Barrier has been installed. The liner is overlapped at all seams, wrapped and sealed around all piers, and mechanically attached to the foundation walls. The Foundation vents have also been sealed to prevent outside air carrying moisture from pouring into the space.
