Open Sump Pit
The existing sump basin was an open pit in the floor with a discharge line. Open pits allow moisture, odors, and water to back up into the basement.

Sump Discharge
The existing discharge line dribbled water down the side of the home. This just dumps water at the foundation to be pumped out again. We'll run the discharge line away from the house where it won't continue to saturate the foundation.

Water staining on walls
Staining was found throughout the basement, indicating that water was a consistent and considerable concern. Water often seeps through porous walls or between cracks in the wall.

Water coming into basement
On the basement walls, we noted water staining, a sign of where moisture is seeping through the wall and into the space. This basement shares a wall with a partial crawl space. The homeowners previously had us insulate the wall between the spaces.
