Dehumidifying the basement
The homeowner has added a dehumidifier to the basement to try and pull some moisture from the air. Without preventing the moisture from coming in, the dehumidifier will not be able to keep up. It is also not designed to pull this much moisture from the air or circulate enough dry air to make an impactful difference.
To protect their belongings, the homeowners have lifted most of their items onto bricks, just to keep them out of the water. They can't use their basement as a functional, comfortable space, because they always have to worry about water damaging their furniture and keepsakes.
