For this area of the attic, the homeowners wanted to focus on insulation and energy efficiency. The boards and old insulation was removed from the attic and our team set to work air sealing and insulating the space.

Together, the air sealing and cellulose will reduce conditioned air loss and heat transfer between the living space and attic. This leaves the homeowners with more comfortable rooms, less drafts, and lower energy bills.

This attic had existing loose fiberglass insulation with an R-value of 3.2 per inch. This material allows air to easily pass through it and escape into the unconditioned attic and out of the home. For this homeowner, we installed an R-38 of blown-in cellulose insulation. Cellulose is more dense than the loose fiberglass, is 85% recycle material, and is fire retardant due to being manufactured with borate, a substance that deters pests.

Spray Foam Insulation Contractor

Spray foam insulation is the best choice for insulation if you’re looking to increase your comfort & decrease your energy bills. Spray foam insulation is truly the best option for home insulation and here are a few reasons why. Spray Foam Insulation provides an air barrier due to its ability to fill gaps and cracks. It is also great at staying in the hard to reach areas because of its super-adhesive qualities. Unlike fiberglass and cellulose insulation, spray foam insulation is waterproof. Water will not be able to pass through the foam which makes it an extremely durable and long-lasting product. Lastly, spray foam insulation is foolproof. Spray foam is sprayed as a liquid and then expands and hardens to fill voids and gaps. There is never any chance for an area to be missed or void to form. Once cured, spray foam insulation will stay in place for decades to come and will never shift or settle like fiberglass. To ensure your home has the best insulation available and your energy bills are low, switch to spray foam insulation today!

Blown-in & Attic Insulation

Blown-in insulation is often called blow-in or blown insulation, but it doesn’t matter what you call it. What does matter is how well it keeps your home insulated. Many people are under the impression that their attic has enough insulation, however, 9 out of 10 times it does not. In a nationwide study, it was found that the average American attic only has about 1/3 enough insulation to keep the home properly insulated. That is where blown-in insulation comes in. Blown-in insulation is blown into your attic and forms a dense layer that will ensure heat will not escape through the top of your home. Having an attic that is properly insulated can cut heating and cooling costs but up to 20%. What are you waiting for? Call or click today to schedule a FREE blown-in or attic insulation estimate!

Crawl Space Repair Experts

Crawl spaces are frequently neglected by homeowners because they are hidden away under our homes. Ignoring your home’s crawl space seems inconsequential, but disregarding your crawl space can lead to potentially critical problems. The air that flows through your home will eventually pass through your crawl space, taking with it pollen, mold spores, and various contaminants that prosper in the moist, cold, and dirty atmosphere of a vented crawl space.

In addition to leaving you and your family vulnerable to these contaminants, a vented crawl space can also result in expensive drafts that make for chilly temperatures in the higher floors. This issue is worsened by the utilization of fiberglass insulation that can become ineffective and soggy in the moist environment. These issues significantly decrease the energy efficiency of your entire home.

Luckily, The Drying Co. can reconstruct your crawl space so that what once was a hazard to your home becomes a resource. We provide a variety of crawl space solutions, such as:

  • Crawl Space Insulation
  • Crawl Space Encapsulation
  • Crawl Space Support Jacks
  • Crawl Space Dehumidifiers
  • And More!

Project Location: Hampton, VA
Recently purchased a 1 story ranch with a crawl space. we are in a flood zone. a new barrier was put down before we moved in and some floor joists and mold, bug damaged was taken care of as well. previous owner had insulation in the joists but due to moisture, was damaged. we currently do not have anything insulating the floors in our house, and recently with the cold weather, our floors (especially the tiled floors) are extremely cold. Is there a way to insulate from underneath to help combat this problem? We also need a dehumidifier and sump pump in the crawl space.
