Team Work Makes The Dream Work
Teamwork and communication are key to how our team performs and our customer's experience. Our weekly meetings keep us all informed and the open forum allows us to discuss and learn. This week, our team did a new exercise that taught us more about effective communication and trust.
Every Monday morning, our production, service, and sales teams gather for a meeting before we start the week. At each meeting, we update each other on what is happening within the business and focus ourselves on our vision, “To deliver comfortable, energy-efficient, durable, and healthy home and building environments to our customers.”
We applaud achievements and share the reviews we received from our customers last week, giving shout outs to the team members who helped those customers. We celebrate work anniversaries, birthdays, and even additions to the family, we welcome new employees and take the time to say hello to each other. We use these opportunities to teach each other and learn from each other’s experiences and about different products and services and to strengthen our team.
This week, we did a new team-building exercise. Everyone split into groups of five. Four of the team members wore blindfolds while the fifth used only their words to direct their team down the parking lot, to their rope. They led their team back and instructed them on how to create a square with the rope. This was a great lesson for the team in trust and communication. You have to trust the guy leading you if you’re going to let him lead you blindly and you have to be willing to take direction. We had a lot of fun finding our voices and digging deeper into how we communicate. Communication is what makes a team strong and effective, so it’s important to take time to work on how we communicate with one another.
Our team had a lot of fun with this exercise and enjoyed the opportunity to work with each other and improve their communication skills. Even one of our team pups, Chance joined in! Continual training is a huge part of our company and essential to ensuring we are always offering the best solutions and service to our customers.
