Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Installing CleanSpace and WaterGuard XL in a Doswell, VA Basement

This homeowner in Doswell was interested in waterproofing solutions and services for their basement. One of our Home Performance Advisors was sent out to evaluate their situation and found that moisture was able to seep through the foundation walls, so they quickly drew up a proposal to help mitigate the effect any moisture had within the basement. 

CleanSpace Vapor Barrier

A durable 20-mil vapor barrier, called CleanSpace was mechanically fastened and sealed to the basement walls six to eight inches above outside grade. This liner will help to guide any moisture seeping through the walls down to the WaterGuard XL drainage system.

WaterGuard XL and Drainage Rocks

We installed a WaterGuard XL drainage system into the trench, which will catch any infiltrating moisture trapped between the CleanSpace and the porous basement walls. The WaterGuard XL then transports any water collected to a sump pump system where it is promptly removed from the basement. Drainage rocks are placed in the trench around the drainage system, which will help to prevent muddy clogs from occurring.

Recementing The Trench

Once the WaterGuard XL, CleanSpace, and sump pump systems are installed, we recement over the trench. Once dried, the homeowners will be able to finish their basement floors over the drainage systems. The basement is now protected from outside moisture infiltration.
