Practically right up the street from The Drying Co.’s headquarters is the community of Lanexa. Lanexa is unique in that part of it is in James City County and part is in New Kent County. After researching we concluded that Lanexa was already formed as a community (history dates back to Captain John Smith in 1607) when New Kent County was established in 1766 through land exchange with James City County.
Lanexa is a small area heaped in history and tied in with The Chickahominy River and Diascund Reservoir. Landmarks include Rockahock Campgrounds – home to a variety of events including a Blues Festival and Chili Cook off and a Restaurant many here at TDC consider to be our favorite lunch spot- Two Drummers Smokehouse. As the name implies, Two Drummers is a great place for smoked delicacies such as barbeque, ribs, chicken, and burgers- We give it a five star rating.
We would like to thank the residents of Lanexa for their support of The Drying Company and also encourage residents from Hampton Roads and Richmond to get away from the city bustle and visit Lanexa for a day- you’ll love the peace, tranquility and history of the area.
